Cat Finks, L.Ac.


Cat is a licensed acupuncturist and is certified by NCCAOM in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology. Cat is also trained in Western clinical herbology. After graduating from Warren Wilson College in 1990, Cat began her formal studies at the California School of Herbal Studies in 1994, receiving certificates in Foundations and Therapeutics of Herbal Medicine. In 1995 she participated in a clinical internship with Tierona Low Dog, M.D., at the New Mexico Institute of Herbal Studies and completed the program as a Certified Clinical Herbalist.

Cat received her Master of Oriental Medicine degree from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine (I.I.C.M.)  in Santa Fe, N.M., in 1999. This program included an internship in the hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Chengdu, China.

After founding Community Acupuncture in 2000, Cat practiced with the Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic on Montford Avenue in Asheville from 2001 until 2006, when she resumed Community Acupuncture. In 2007, Community Acupuncture was renamed Asheville Community Acupuncture. Cat taught Chinese Herbal Medicine at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts from 2004 to 2009.
She left to devote more time to playing music.
